Job Description

 

Responsible for strategy, maintenance and efficiency savings of corporate fleet of circa 180 company cars and commercial vehicles.

Budgetary responsibility with a requirement to prepare annual budgets and forecasts establishing unit costs and recovery plans working on a WLC basis.

 

Build and develop business partnering relationships with lease companies and manufacturers to secure beneficial rates for the company.

 

Day to day business as usual operational management of the fleet and associated issues including (but not limited to) hire/contract lease of new vehicles; DVRs; fuel cards; toll maintenance; parking fines/intended prosecutions.

 

HMRC submissions including P46 & P11Ds/P11Dbs.

 

Development and provision of fleet analytics

 

Design, develop and Implement a cradle to grave Fleet Management process to include (but not limited to):

 

  • Fleet utilisation
  • Risk management
  • Fuel efficiencies and savings
  • Telematics
  • Compliance and control
  • Improved motor insurance rates
  • End to end Accident Management
  • Vehicle entitlement
  • Development of fleet profile to incorporate hybrid and electric vehicles
  • Daily rental process
  • End of contract damage
  • Driver audits
  • Driver safety
  • Vehicle checks

 

Responsible for developing systems, processes and procedures which seek to ensure that the requirements of the “O-Licencing” regime are monitored and complied with.

 

Responsible for making applications and providing any necessary undertakings and/or declarations on behalf of the Company’s fleet in respect of licencing under the Goods Vehicle (Licencing of Operators) Act 1995 or subsequent legislation. 

 

Develop the role with a view to expanding it to include all company logistics management within an 18-24-month period.

Person Specification

Essential Skills:

 

  • Can demonstrate at least 3 years’ relevant experience in a leading role in a large and diverse fleet management and maintenance environment.
  • Applicants must also be able to demonstrate the following competencies:
  • Business Planning & Strategic Skills – the ability to forward plan, identify issues, assess options and effectively prioritise work.  Taking into account short and medium term goals, service demands and the availability of resources.
  • Finance & Resource Management Skills – able to monitor and manage expenditure and income against set budgets and to identify and explain variances.  Determine and plan resources required to meet specific objectives. 
  • Analytical & Decision Making Skills – Make effective decision and demonstrate sound operational judgment and ability to analyse complex service issues.
  • Work Planning & Organisational Skills – operationally prioritise and schedule work.
  • Customer Care Skills – respond appropriately to the needs of all customers.
  • Partnership Working Skills – form, maintain and enhance partnerships with a wide range of internal and external partners for the benefit of achieving objectives.
  • Innovation & Creativity – think creatively about methods and service improvements.
  • Performance Management – a good understanding of performance indicators, setting of objectives and targets, performance measures, benchmarking and quality assurance.  The ability to set procedures and operational standards.

Core Hours of Work:

Monday to Friday - 8 hours per day.
